News March 25, 2014 Comments Off on Bitcoin & Venture Capital at the CoinSummit Conference – The Tell – MarketWatch 13Venture capitalists and major investors have been funneling money into bitcoin companies in the last year, in what some have likened to the early stages of investing in Internet companies.
There have been a number of setbacks for the virtual currency, including the Mt. Gox bankruptcy and an investor alert from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
So just how much is at stake and where are the investment opportunities in bitcoin now?
Those questions could be answered at the CoinSummit conference in San Francisco on Tuesday and Wednesday, where several venture-capital firms will be sending their investors to talk about why they’re betting on the future of digital currencies like bitcoin.
Venture-capital firms scheduled to attend include Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Clearstone Venture Partners and Ribbit Capital.
We’ll be live blogging the Tuesday morning fireside chat with Marc Andreessen, who co-founded Netscape and has invested in the bitcoin company Coinbase through Andreessen Horowitz.
